What is it about?

The year is 2085. On the planet there are two powers: the Unified Earth Government and the corporate territories. Both the territories and the government have their own rules. Criminals hide in corporate territories. JD Bellow is a “Shadow”, an Earth Policeman in charge of carrying out the death penalty handed down by Earth judges. Bellow is assigned the mission of executing Miko Kurosawa, president of a prestigious corporation, accused of murdering a renowned scientist. While preparing, he receives a postmortem message alerting him of Kurosawa's innocence. A few days later, Kurosawa is murdered, before Bellow executes him. Who did it? Why was he murdered? Who wanted to blame him for a crime he didn't commit? In the end, Bellow discovers a truth that threatens to destabilize the world system.

How it was made?

Underbreak is a novel that answers several questions I asked myself: What would happen if society's control systems violated privacy? What would happen if a machine were invented that manipulated memories and memory, and could archive them on a kind of "hard drive"? What would happen if corporations controlled their companies as independent territories?

In 2013 I started writing Underbreak. First, I researched each of the topics I wanted to cover: neuroscience and security. I knew the possibilities of extrapolating the topic. Then, I started writing the first chapter. For the first time, JD Bellow, the shadow who executes corporate criminals, appeared. Then each element of the plot was outlined.

What do readers think ?

Amazing Stories

(USES)

"Underbreak is a very risky and valuable proposal that deserves to be highlighted, especially because using the aesthetics of science fiction, the book tries to discuss the role of some technology that would be directly linked to what Deleuze was describing, a type of control company..."

SCIENCE FICTION SITE (SPAIN)

"Perhaps this ability to perceive reality from various angles is the basis for his novel UNDERBREAK (2015) to have so much police, science fiction, mystical fantasy and obvious social criticism. Could it be the future that is coming, not only for Latin America, but for the whole world?..."

THE RUE MORGUE

(ECUADOR)

"The text hides the suspicion that scientific curiosity and the creative desire of human beings can lead them to harm themselves and forces us to reflect on the limits that we are willing to exceed in pursuit of progress..."
