Hello inhabitants of the cosmos
I am Cristián Londoño Proaño, a science fiction and fantasy writer, professor and researcher, scriptwriter, producer and audiovisual director, and editor and director of the digital magazine “Teoría Ómicron”. I have done many cultural projects, published more than two dozen articles in different magazines in Latin America, published more than 7 books and produced more than 50 documentaries.
My story
I was born in Quito, 1973. I have a master's degree in scriptwriting and audiovisual development, a Master's degree in Communication and I am a PhD candidate in Communication.
I invented and developed the concept of the Andean fantasy novel. I published the non-fiction book “Between Science Fiction and Fantasy” (2020), the novels “The Infinite Name of the Stars” (2024); “Dark Nights, Big Mouths” (2022); “Misión Antares” (2019), “Twelve Hours” (2016), ”Underbreak” (2015), “Dead Time” (2015), “The Unproductive” (2014) and “The Instinct of Light” (2011). I published the poetry collections: “Desojare” (1997) and “Luna de Solitarios” (1999, 2001). I wrote and directed the plays: “Blue Lovers” and “The Black Candles”.
I have received several awards and recognitions: In 2024, I was selected to participate in the 82nd World Science Fiction Convention in Glasgow. In 2024 I was a finalist in the Julio C. Coba International Youth Literature Competition. In 2021 I was a finalist in the Tech Competition of the Monterrey Institute of Technology. In 2020 I won the Emerge fund from the Ministry of Culture of Ecuador. In 2019, I won the Script Doctors call from the Institute of Film and Audiovisual Creativity (ICCA). In 2001 I won 1st prize at the poetry festival of the Municipality of Guayaquil. In 1997 I won 1st prize at the Biennial of Young Poetry.
I wrote, directed and produced several documentaries and documentary series such as: "Jorge Enrique Adoum: the unearthed poet", "La Belleza e Sentir", "Arte de Sentir" and "Literamanía". These productions were selected by INPUT to represent Ecuador and are part of Televisión América Latina (TAL) and the UNESCO NETWORK. Their productions portray the actors of Ecuadorian literary and cultural events at the end of the 20th century and beginning of the 21st century and bring together approximately 66 documentaries.
My experience in scientific research is reflected in my accreditation as an Accredited Researcher and in the publication of more than 12 academic articles in journals indexed in Scopus and Latindex.
